A Maryland nonprofit is making strides in helping people with disabilities find jobs and other opportunities by partnering with tech company Enabled Intelligence to host a specialized boot camp.
For decades, Melwood has been committed to providing employment, training, and supportive services, along with recreational activities, for individuals with disabilities.
Enabled Intelligence focuses on inputting data to help artificial intelligence systems, including those utilized by the federal government.
This week, Melwood joined forces with Enabled Intelligence to host a boot camp specifically designed for people who are neurodivergent, meaning they process information differently from the typical population.
“People with disabilities have lots of abilities,” said Melwood’s Chief Growth Officer Joe Diaz. “I’m hopeful that this program and through other programs like this that Melwood provides, people understand the value of hiring an individual with a disability.”
During the boot camp, over 100 participants gained the skills needed for well-paying data input jobs and learned strategies for workplace success.
Jennifer Roberts, one of the participants, shared her positive experience:
“I felt welcomed and I could come as I was and to learn, and use my superpowers,” said Roberts.
